Škoda Auto presents the second generation of the Kodiaq, taking sustainability, spaciousness and safety to a new level. The Czech car manufacturer’s SUV flagship has seen its dimensions increased once again and now features the first elements of the Modern Solid design language. The all-new Kodiaq comes with state-of-the-art infotainment systems, including an optional 13-inch screen and a head‑up display. Innovative Škoda Smart Dials with haptic controls and a 10-inch Virtual Cockpit come as standard. The voice control system will from mid-2024 onwards become even more advanced with the integration of the AI-based chatbot ChatGPT. Škoda’s large SUV also adopts a new interior concept based on Design Selections. The five powertrains offer outputs from 110 kW (150 hp) to 150 kW (204 hp) and are always mated to a DSG automatic transmission. The powertrain line-up now also includes a plug in hybrid version with an electric range of more than 100 kilometres and an entry-level mild-hybrid powertrain. The two top engines are combined with all-wheel drive as standard. Also making their debuts are the latest generations of the LED Matrix beam headlights with a significantly higher light output and the Dynamic Chassis Control system (DCC Plus).

Thanks to this, it is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds and reaching a maximum speed of 172 km/h.<br/><br/>The new OMODA 5 EV is powered by a 61.05 kWh capacity battery, which certifies a range of 430 km (according to the WLTP protocol). It can be recharged from 30 to 80% in an estimated time of between 3 to 4 hours (with alternating current in a 11 kW outlet) or in 28 minutes (with direct current at 80 kW).

The new BMW 5 Series Touring is now on the road. The first vehicles were delivered to customers in Europe and Japan a few days ago. Now in its sixth generation, the sporty all-rounder in the premium segment of the upper mid-range vehicle segment is being launched for the first time as the all-electric BMW i5 Touring. Two models with purely electric drive and two with highly efficient four-cylinder diesel engines are available for the market launch. By summer 2024, the range of the new BMW 5 Series Touring and Sedan will be extended to include additional models with plug-in hybrid drive and an in-line six-cylinder diesel engine.<br/><br/>The Bavarian premium car manufacturer is systematically continuing the electrification of its model range with the BMW i5 Touring and the soon-to-be-available plug-in hybrid versions of the new BMW 5 Series Touring. The top model of the new series is the BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring with up to 442 kW/601 hp. At its side is the new BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring with an output of up to 250 kW/340 hp and a range of up to 560 kilometres determined in the WLTP test cycle.<br/><br/>In addition, the BMW 520d Touring and BMW 520d xDrive Touring models, which are particularly popular in Europe, are now available. Their four-cylinder diesel engine is combined with 48-volt mild hybrid technology and develops a maximum output of 145 kW/197 hp.

The electric motor on the rear axle is particularly powerful due to its 6-phase operation: it has two windings with three phases each.<br/><br/>To recuperate, the driver does not need to press the brake pedal; literally 1-pedal driving. Thanks to ECO Assist, the EQE SUV also decelerates automatically to a standstill when it detects vehicles ahead, for example at traffic lights.<br/><br/>The charging system is located above the rear axle of the EQE SUV. It can be used to charge the battery from the public mains with single-phase or three-phase alternating current and an optional charging capacity of up to 22 kW.<br/><br/>Mercedes-Benz issues a battery certificate for its high-voltage batteries, and thus a performance guarantee to customers: 10 years or a mileage of 250,000 kilometres with a defined residual capacity.<br/><br/>The chassis of the new EQE SUV comprises a four-link suspension at the front and an independent multi-link suspension at the rear. Thanks to the comparatively short wheelbase of 3030 millimetres and the corresponding suspension tuning, it feels particularly agile and manoeuvrable even with the basic set-up.<br/><br/>The AIRMATIC air suspension with ADS+ continuously adjustable damping is available as an optional extra. To increase ground clearance, the vehicle level can be raised by up to 30 millimetres. Rear-axle steering with a maximum steering angle of 10 degrees is available as an option.
