Description: Presented by Poppy Gouldn---nZFP37 is an ancient genome defence protein which is conserved and under purifying selection in its zinc-finger domain in eutherian mammals. Unexpectedly, despite its age, we identify ZFP37 to bind a mouse-specific endogenous retrovirus (ERV), IAPEz, in a Y1H screen suggesting that it has an ongoing function in restriction of active ERVs. Further, it is highly expressed in the adult and developing nervous systems of both mice and humans and accordingly, we show here t
